53In the below mentioned commits there were a few large breaking changes since the

561. The `Credentials` type has been moved to the root of the module as it is
57 becoming the core abstraction for the whole module.
582. Because of the above mentioned change many functions that previously
59 returned a `TokenProvider` now return `Credentials`. Similarly, these
60 functions have been renamed to be more specific.
613. Most places that used to take an optional `TokenProvider` now accept
62 `Credentials`. You can make a `Credentials` from a `TokenProvider` using the
63 constructor found in the `auth` package.
644. The `detect` package has been renamed to `credentials`. With this change some
65 function signatures were also updated for better readability.
665. Derivative auth flows like `impersonate` and `downscope` have been moved to
67 be under the new `credentials` package.

69Although these changes are disruptive we think that they are for the best of the
70long-term health of the module. We do not expect any more large breaking changes
71like these in future revisions, even before 1.0.0. This version will be the
72first version of the auth library that our client libraries start to use and
